About Closed Caption Craziness

These are fun. They take a lot of 'research' to do. I have to watch several videos with the audio turned down and the CC (Closed Captions) on. I would say about 2-5% of what I watch reveals any funny content at all, so it's time intensive.

I find most non-American accents are the best for hilarious mistranslations. Though there is Stella Rae who has a very american but also very slurred speaking style surprisingly can turn up some funny captions.

What i look for: there needs to be a funny coincidence in timing, oddness of the caption. Occasionly there are very R-rated captions that i ultimately feel i have to cut because i aim for Vegan Funny being a family friendly channel, but we'll see how it evolves. For example i haven't shown any factory farm horror footage but that may be around the corner. The point of the channel is comic relief from the seriousness of the vegan topic: to poke fun at ourselves. But i do have a couple skits in mind that are more 'political' or harder to swallow because the message is very serious though couched in humor.

Derriere Rider, aka Uncle Derriere aka DurianRider

My Derriere Rider character is based on Aussie vegan YouTuber DurianRider, He's got great content overall but many of his current videos have a dash of crass - he's always swearing. That's why i thought it would be hilarious to have this character host a children's show. He's be always restraining himself around kids as he endlessly spews wisdom and advice, welcomed or otherwise.

Episode one of Vegan Funny

This is the big debut- the Genesis, the Beginning. "Let there be comedy, and there was comedy"- vegan style!

The idea for the channel came fast. I had set it up as a YouTube channel but it was basically an afterthought- a far off project that i may someday get to.

First of all I was surprised that the name Vegan Funny wasn't taken! Am I really such a vegan pioneer? ( i decided to reserve vegan funny with lower case v and l too so no one else would take my trademark name. But i may change the channel name someday...).

The first skit was spontaneous and without ceremony. I switched my ipad mini on, with iographer mount and started to let it all hang out.

Symbolically significant: the very first skit was about an egg. And what will hatch from this channel? Hopefully lots and lots of laughs and 'chicks'.
